Frequently Asked Questions

3 Year factory warranty

Yes, the equipment must be powered by a POE+ Ethernet switch, or direct wired 16 - 48 VDC power supply.  Depending on the application, wind screen, goose neck arm, and mounting poles might be needed.

We have run into situations where the technician increased the decibel setting in the advanced parameters beyond what the POE+ switch can supply.  When more than 5 additional decibels at max volume control, the speaker can overload the POE+ switch causing it to reset the station.  Installing a local power supply and using ethernet only for communication corrected the issue.  This additional measure only needs to be considered in very noisy areas (Estimate 60 decibels and above)

Yes, one call station will be configured as the "IC-Edge controller", then up to 32 additional IC-Edge stations can be added, and up to (10) Third Party SIP Stations (Phones / Computers).  An additional license can be purchased if your application exceeds the standard maximum number of stations.  Each device will have a unique IP address and extension number.

Yes, for mobile phone applications purchase the IC-Edge Mobile phone license key, and connect your phones ethernet network to a Wi-fi router (Or your buildings wireless network).  The phone will have voice and video (TCIV models), and can also send DTMF commands to remotely control relays on the call stations.

For computers:  A free software is available (VS-Client) for voice communication from your computers.  The computer must have a microphone and speakers installed.

Computers with video: If video is also required on your computer, a third party software and third party SIP license must be purchased.  We have used Bria software in the past, but other SIP Video software will also work.

Ethernet networks with Cat 5 or Cat 6 are limited to 326 ft of cable length.  If your application has greater distances we recommend using the optional wireless bridge listed in our VOIP accessories.

Some customers have also used fiberoptic converters to extend their distance.  B-TEK has assist with providing panels and converters to house the equipment, but you will need to contact a fiberoptic installer for terminations and pulling the fiberoptic cable.

Yes and No, the scale house can initiate the call, or the driver can press the call button.  We also have the ability to connect a digital input to an indicator's setpoint to initiate the call on one directional applications (This is a simple low cost solution if your indicator already has I/O functionality).  For two directional applications infrared directional motion detectors can be installed to initiate the call automatically.

Yes, There is enough room to mount the call station on the front of a DD2050, or printer enclosure.  B-TEK can provide cutout information when needed.

The IC-Edge system will work with several manufacturers systems, and compatible with ICX -Alphacom, Alcatel-Lucent, Avaya, Cisco, and NEC.  The stations can also be set to SIP mode to allow your current phone system to manage calls and communications.

No, items can be purchased individually to meet your application.  Price will be the same either way.

We recommend replacing the ITSV phone with an Exigo base station.  The Exigo system has the same noise cancelation technology and automatic gain control as the outdoor turbine stations.  The Exigo comes with three programmable buttons, with the option of adding an additional 8 call buttons on the dual base station enclosure.

Yes, we offer item 872-000093 ELSII-10HM IP Horn with built in microphone.  This can be mounted by the trucks cab.
